NYCxDESIGN hosted an unforgettable evening on the water with Hervé Descottes, one of the world’s most influential lighting designers.
A rare NYCxDESIGN keynote & night boat tour with Hervé Descottes—guests experienced his iconic lighting projects from the water.
This special keynote experience unfolded aboard the Manhattan II by Classic Harbor Line, departing from Pier 62. Guests cruised the New York City waterfront at night gaining a rare perspective on the illuminated skyline through the eyes of the designer behind some of its most iconic lighting projects.
Throughout the two-hour journey, Hervé shared insights into his philosophy, process, and the stories behind key works that have shaped New York’s nocturnal identity. Along the route, guests encountered projects and sites including Pier 17 and the South Street Seaport, 8 Spruce Street, Domino Sugar Refinery, Newtown Creek Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility, and Hunters Point Library, among others.
As the city glowed around them, guests gained a deeper understanding of how light transforms architecture and public space at an urban scale.
Guests enjoyed a curated onboard experience with wine, courtesy of Massican Wines, and soft beverages served throughout the cruise.
This intimate, design-forward evening was part keynote, part guided tour, and entirely unique to NYCxDESIGN.
