Osanna Visconti di Modrone’s May exhibition at Maison Gerard marks the Milan-based designer’s first solo presentation with the New York gallery. Maison Gerard will dedicate the space to approximately 24 of Osanna’s works, carefully installed within a setting that underscores her dialogue with 20th-century design history.
The gallery will limit the contextual works shown alongside Osanna to historic periods — Fine French Art Deco, 1940s French Modern, and select works through the 80s. The exhibition will also include significant works of art, reinforcing the gallery’s tradition of presenting furniture within an elevated environment.
Maison Gerard is known for creating immersive installations where objects across eras exist in graceful visual harmony. In this instance, Osanna’s sculptural bronzes will enter into conversation with the structural elegance and refined geometry of Art Deco and later French modernist design. The installation will highlight both contrasts and affinities: her organic, nature-derived forms set against the disciplined lines and architectural rigor of early- and mid-20th-century masters.
Osanna’s practice centers on the ancient cera persa (lost-wax) casting technique, through which she transforms ephemeral botanical elements — bamboo stalks, leaves, branches, and floral forms — into permanent cast-bronze furnishings and objects. Each piece is hand-cast in Milan, preserving every vein and irregularity of the original material. The unpredictability of the lost-wax process introduces subtle variation, making each work singular.
The exhibition will draw from several of her collections — Paglia di Vienna, Bambù, Magnolia, Primavera, Rilievi, and Raggi — and will include sculptural lighting, mirrors, screens, tables, bookcases, cabinets, seating, and decorative objects.

Working closely with Benoist F. Drut, Osanna developed new works specifically for this presentation, expanding key collections while responding to the architectural and historical context of the gallery. By placing her bronzes exclusively with historic works and substantial art, Maison Gerard emphasizes the timelessness of her practice and the continuity between ancient casting techniques and 20th-century design mastery.
