The Ben Lamp was designed as an eternal ode to moments of wonder and self-discovery, inspired by McCormick’s young son and the instinctive way he collects and stacks found objects. This unique lamp brings warmth and character to any space, much like its namesake.
A delicate interplay of balanced forms and proportions, Ben is a symbolic sculpture of meaning and personal significance, offered in a palette of hand-carved, solid stone base options and a blown glass globe, uniquely crafted for each piece. Ben is made to order, created especially for the person and space it is meant to adorn.
"Inspired by my son and the instinctive way he collects and stacks found objects, the Ben Lamp is an ode to the fleeting moments of wonder and self-discovery we experience through the eyes of our children.
The design intent for Ben was always clear: I wanted to take the essence of joy I feel when I see my son play, learn and interact with the world around him, turning it into something tangible and emotive in shape and form. I wanted the lamp to eternalize the marvel in those quiet moment when we discover something we deeply love.
What loosely began as a familiar Dutch peg doll in shape, the Ben Lamp evolved as we played with numerous stacked forms, proportions and placements. We created and tested countless pieces until Ben felt just right, finally landing on three obscure stone shapes not stacked - but impossibly balanced."
