The Field Series: Floor Lamp 3/44 is a floorstanding iteration of a lighting family that includes surface (wall and ceiling), pendant (horizontal and vertical), and freestanding (floor and table) pieces. The materials used include solid brass, soapstone, and acrylic. The light source is line-voltage LED modules. There are two 3000K, 15 watt/1500 lumen modules per shade, so 90 watts/9000 source lumens overall. The light level is controlled by a foot-operated dimmer.
The Field Series is rooted in Italian Modernism yet inspired by the prosaic light fixtures in every roadside motel bathroom in America. Narrow slots resolve to line as they wrap around three sides of a folded shade which itself repeats to create the subtle geometries of this lamp. Its slender bands of brass impart a graphic opacity to the shades that make it as handsome when it is turned off as it is when illuminating a room. It is just one expression of the modular Field Series, in which a single, pair or trio of the three-sided shades can be mounted to become sconces, ceiling lights, freestanding lamps or pendants, in a variety of lengths.
