Warp - a floor light conceived in 2025.
Aesthetically, the Warp pulls inspiration from depictions of gravitational warpage across space-time.
Functionally, the Warp prioritizes producing a comfortable and even glow. This is accomplished by implementing a plurality of light housings in a grid pattern that span the entirety of the fixture. This allows the overall body of the fixture to be an active participant in the illumination (instead of just a passive chassis). With a more even distribution of light about the overall fixture, the viewer is no experiences hot-spotting - which makes for a much more comfortable illumination experience.
My lighting design philosophy is to activate a fixture as much as possible when it comes to illumination performance.
As I see it, traditional lighting fixtures often incorporate discrete bulbs on a passive backbone. These backbones are often forgotten as they only act to space-apart the bulbs at various intervals. Not only does this lead to uneven light distribution and hot-spotting, but it also leaves a notable amount of the fixture unilluminated.
The Warp, however, is fully activated by incorporating a plurality of light housings in an undulating grid pattern that spans the entirety of the fixture. Through this, the entire fixture is an active participant in the illumination. The numerous light housings also create a more even glow. This helps the viewer avoid being punched in the face with piercingly concentrated discrete bulb brightness. As a result, the Warp more comfortably illuminates the surrounding space.
